Watford promoted to Premier League

After an eight year absence, Watford will return to Premier League action next season after a 2-0 at Brighton on Saturday secured the Hornets promotion from the Championship.

Following their win at lunchtime, Watford had to play the waiting game and thanks to Fulham’s 4-3 win over Middlesbrough and Norwich’s point at Rotherham, Watford fans did not have to wait another week as promotion was confirmed.

Second-place Bournemouth play Bolton on Monday and should the Cherries lose, Slavisa Jokanovic’s side will also secure the Championship trophy.

The last time the Londoners played in the top-flight was the 2006-07 season but their Premier League status lasted just one season with just five wins all season.

Watford fans will be hoping for a better experience next season but for now, they can revel in the success Slavisa Jokanovic and his team have achieved.
