Tonight, Chicago goes Extreme as WWE Extreme Rules takes over the Allstate Arena, where Randy Orton looks to dethrone WWE Champion Seth Rollins when the two do battle inside a Steel Cage.
Steel Cage match for the WWE Championship
Seth Rollins (c) vs Randy Orton
After defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania, Randy Orton felt he should be No. 1 Contender to face Rollins at Extreme Rules and made sure he would get his hands on the WWE Champion after beating Ryback and Roman Reigns in a Triple Threat No. 1 Contenders match a few weeks back.
However, this time the former Authority brothers will do battle inside a Steel Cage, while thanks to a victory over Kane, the champion has banned the RKO. Furthermore this past week, Triple H named Kane as the gatekeeper as a test of Kane’s loyalty after tensions between Rollins and the director of operations in recent weeks.
Rollins is exactly what kind of champion WWE needed an arrogant, slimy one who will do anything to keep the gold. As for how this one will pan out, I believe Kane will cost Orton thus helping Seth in retaining the title and I really don’t see Rollins losing the title any time soon.
Prediction: Seth Rollins
Russian Chain match for the United States Championship
John Cena (c) vs Rusev
After John Cena became the first man to pin Rusev at WrestleMania, we all knew this one was not over and Rusev gets his rematch for the United States Championship tonight, but this time it will be a Chain match.
Although I was not a fan of Cena winning at WrestleMania, I really like the US Open idea we have seen in recent weeks. The open has actually given Cena a bit of a fresh boost but I would like to see more young guys challenge him and less of the Kane’s.
We don’t get chain (strap) matches too often but I don’t have high hopes for this match but I do think Rusev will dominate Cena for most of it before Cena will do his usual comeback and pip Rusev into touching all four turnbuckles to retain his United States Championship.
Prediction: John Cena
