Week 4: Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd all lose as Man City maintain winning start

Chelsea have made the worst start to a title defence in Premier League history after Jose Mouinho’s 100th home game in charge ended a rare home defeat as Crystal Palace stunned the champions with a 2-1 win.

Bakary Sako opened the scoring on 65 minutes with his second goal of the season as he fired the ball into the back of the net after Yannick Bolasie’s low cross.

Radamel Falcao scored his first Chelsea goal to level things up with a header beating Alex McCarthy at his near post on  79 minutes but less than two minutes later Joel ward nodded home for the winner as the Eagles moved up to second in the table.

Swansea made in three in a row against Man United as Louis van Gaal side saw his side fall to their first league defeat of the season after a 2-1 defeat to the Swans.

Juan Mata put the visitors in front three minutes into the second half but Jordan Ayew equalised for the Swans on the hour mark, before Bafetimbi Gomis with his ninth goal in ten games maintained the Welsh side’s unbeaten start to the season.

There was also defeat for Liverpool as West Ham made it two wins from two on the road in a 3-0 win at Anfield, with Manuel Lanzini’s first goal for the Hammers and a Mark Noble striker put the Londoners 2-0 up inside the first half-hour.

Phillipe Coutinho and Mark Noble both saw red before Diafra Sakho added a third for West Ham as Liverpool fell to their first defeat of the season, while Arsenal scrapped to a 1-0 win at Newcastle thanks to a Fabricio Coloccini own goal.

There was no such problems for early leaders Man City who maintained their winning start after a 2-0 win over Watford, while Leicester kept up their unbeaten start to the season as a late Jamie Vardy penalty rescued a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.

Southampton recorded their first win of the season as Dusan Tadic was on the double in a 3-0 win over Norwich, but Tottenham are still looking for their first win of the new season after being held to a 0-0 draw by Everton and an in-form Tim Howard.
