US Open Day 11: Rain disrupts play, women’s semi-finals now on Friday

Serena Williams will have to wait to book her place in the final as a calendar grand slam edges nearer for the veteran American after rain stopped play on day 11 of the US Open forcing both women’s semi-finals to be postponed.

21-time grand slam winner Williams was scheduled to meet Italian Roberta Vinci, while number two seed Simona Halep also faces Italian opposition in Flavia Pennetta. Both semi-finals will now take place on Friday morning.

This means it will be a busy day on Friday with both the women’s and men’s semi-finals set to take place. Novak Djokovic faces defending champion Marin Cilic, while Roger Federer faces compatriot Stan Wawrinka in an all-Swiss clash.

Some action did take place on Thursday and you find those results, with doubles action, at this link.
