In 2015 there was one tag team that dominated the division, so who else could you crown the Balls and Brawls WWE Tag Team of the year other than the Tag Team Champions themselves, The New Day.
When the trio came together in November 2014, something just didn’t work but as fans made their opinions known with chants of ‘New Day Sucks’, they began to embrace it and things started to look on the up.
I think it was WrestleMania where it all began to come together for Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods as chants of ‘New Day Sucks’ to their theme tune filled the Levis Stadium.
The trio have brilliantly played the role of the annoying heel from their pre-match promos to Xavier Woods distracting yet entertaining tunes on his trombone.
Together with letting their hair down and bringing more personality to their character, Kingston and Big E formed a great partnership in the ring and after a run of strong showings from the duo, their efforts were rewarded.
At Extreme Rules in April, New Day claimed their first of two Tag Team Championships by defeating Tyson Kidd and Cesaro and claimed thier second at SummerSlam emerging victorious in a Fatal Four Way match.
By the time SummerSlam came, New Day’s annoying arrogance began to turn into a more entertaining love-hate relationship with the fans as while they can be annoying, you cannot deny their entertainment value.
After some great fueds with Prime Time Players and Dudley Boys, the trio are currently locked in a three-way rivalry with The Uso’s and Lucha Dragons, who they defeated in an incredible ladder match at TLC.
I think 2016 is going to be an even better year for the New Day and while arenas are currently 50-50 on ‘New Day Rocks’ and ‘New Day Sucks’, I think the trio could become a crowd favourite in 2016.
