Leaders Leicester held their nerve to remain five points clear at the top of the Premier League as the Foxes edged closer to a first Premier league title after a 1-0 win over Newcastle.
Shinji Okazaki grabbed the only goal of the game on 25 minutes as the Japanese striker scored an overhead kick after the Magpies failed to deal with a Riyad Mahrez free-kick.
Tottenham kept to within five points of Claudio Ranieri’s men as Spurs heaped more misery on basement club Aston Villa with a 2-0 win to keep up their charge for a first Premier League title.
Harry Kane put Tottenham in front just before half-time as he sent a low left-footed strike past Brad Guzan and into the far corner after a quickly taken free-kick by Dele Alli
The English striker doubled the away’s side advantage three minutes into the second half as Alli once again provided for Kane to poke home from close range.
However, Man City’s quest for a third Premier League title looks to be all but over after Manuel Pellegrini’s side were held to a scoreless draw by relegation threatened Norwich.
Bournemouth moved 13 points clear of the drop zone and into 13th place in the table as the Cherries edged out Swansea 3-2 to bag a third with on the trot.
Max Gradel gave Bournemouth the lead on 37 minutes but Modou Barrow pegged them back level just two minutes later as he cut inside and scored a brilliant curling effort.
Gylfi Sigurdsson once again drew Swansea level just after the hour mark after Joshua King drilled home for Eddie Howe’s side and the Cherries would leave with all three points thanks to Steve Cook’s 78th minute header.
The only other game this week saw Southampton leave Stoke with a 2-1 victory as Italian striker Graziano Pelle bagged a brace to see the Saints move up to seventh.
