Charlotte’s six-month reign as Divas Champion is under threat, as she must defend her title against her fellow NXT graduates Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat match.
Just ten months after bringing the Divas Revolution to Raw, these three ladies have certainly made an impression on the women’s division but only one of them can leave WrestleMania with the Divas Championship.
When Charlotte won the Divas Championship back at Night of Champions, the success slowly began to go her head and to further her change in character, the ‘Dirtiest Player in the Game’ and Charlotte’s dad Ric Flair came to his daughter’s side.
Becky Lynch tried her best to put up with her Team PCB partner but eventually Charlotte had enough of the Lass Kicker leading to a clash between the two former friends at the Royal Rumble.
Charlotte would retain the gold but Sasha Banks would have the final say as she took out both Lynch and the champion Charlotte making her intentions known that she wanted the title.
In an unlikely turn of events, Lynch would reunite with former NXT tag team partner Banks to help the Boss take down her former Team BAD partners Naomi and Tamina Snuka at FastLane.
This would once again come to an inconclusive end as Charlotte attacked both Divas to force a double DQ but her plan backfired when she learned she would have to defend her title against both Banks and Lynch in a Triple Threat at WrestleMania.
After learning they both would get the chance to become Divas Champion at WrestleMania, Banks and Lynch still stood side by side to take down Naomi and Tamina in a FastLane rematch but both would fall victim to a Charlotte attack after the match.
The next week on Smackdown, Charlotte had an apology to make to her former NXT allies but not for the attack, but to apologize for ever thinking Banks and Lynch were worthy of being called horsewomen.
Moments later, tension rose between Banks and Lynch but if Charlotte thought she could sit back and see them tear each other apart, she was mistaken as the challengers turned their attention to the Divas Champion.
Charlotte would recompose herself and just 13 days before her toughest defence at WrestleMania, she scored an impressive win over Natalya as the Boss and the LassKicker watched on.
Charlotte’s momentum would come to a halt three days on Smackdown with a loss to the Boss. Becky Lynch thought he has the last laugh by attacking both women after the match but it was Banks who nailed the champion with a backstabber.
Champion Charlotte once again swung the tide in her favour as the former NXT Women’s Champion scored the win over Becky Lynch on the final Raw before the showcase of immortals, albeit with the help of her dad Ric Flair.
A year ago these three Divas were battling it out in NXT and now 12 months on, Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch now look to steal the show on the grandest stage of them all.
Of course, Charlotte will have daddy Ric Flair by her side but could see an equaliser to prevent the Nature Boy from interfering. We know Mick Foley is a big fan of Lynch and Banks, so could we see the Hardcore Legend take care of potential outside interference.
I really hope these three Divas get the time to shine and should they, I think this could be a show stealer. It is unusual to hear a Divas match potentially being the match of the night but these three former NXT women are very good.
At the end of it all, I think Charlotte will manage to retain the Divas Championship. She is a very good leader of the women’s division and it would be a shame of take the title off her. If we are to see a new champion though, put your money on The Boss.
