Smackdown Women’s Championship Six-Pack Challenge

It will be a tough night for Alexa Bliss on her WrestleMania debut in Orlando, as she must defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship against every available female on the Smackdown roster.

Former champion Naomi, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Mickie James and Natalya are just some of the names Bliss will have to face, with WWE also teasing that a few familiar faces could return to take part in the match.

When the draft extension returned last summer and the Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair was on Raw, Smackdown bosses Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan introduced a brand new prize for the Smackdown women in the shape of the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

To decide who would get their hands on the brand new title, Becky Lynch outlasted Carmella, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Bella, Natalya and Naomi in a six-pack challenge at Backlash to become the first ever Smackdown Women’s Champion.

However with the triumph, Becky Lynch now had a target on her back and Alexa Bliss would earn the right to face the champion after winning a Fatal 5 Way on the 13 September episode of Smackdown.

The two women would fued for the next few months and after an injury ruled the Lasskicker out of No Mercy, Bliss would not get her match until early November. However after a controversial win for Becky to retain her title, this rivalry was far from over.

Alexa Bliss would finally get her hands on th Smackdown Women’s Championship, when she defeated Becky in a Tables match at TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs in December.

Bliss was not yet done with Becky and they would face off again this time inside a Steel Cage on 17 January edition of Smackdown. Bliss managed to retain her title with a helping hand from La Luchadora, who turned out to be the returning Mickie James.

In late January, Naomi made her return to Smackdown after injury and upset the women’s champion at the Royal Rumble as Naomi, Lynch and Nikki Bella defeated Mickie James, Natalya and the champion Bliss.

Another win over Bliss two days later on Smackdown put her in pole position to challenge Bliss for the title and a third win for Naomi saw her become the new Smackdown Women’s Champion at Elimination Chamber.

However, another injury for Naomi would see her have to relinquish the title and to crown a new champion, Bliss defeated Becky Lynch on the 21 February episode of Smackdown to become a two-time Smackdown Women’s Champion.

Despite losing that match, Becky Lynch proved she is worthy of a title shot when the Lasskicker defeated Mickie James in a Two Out of Three Falls match, overcoming interference from the champion.

After Natalya came out on top in her rivalry against Nikki Bella in a Falls Count Anywhere match, the Queen of Harts let Bliss know that she also now had her sights set on the Smackdown Women’s title.

A cocky Alexa Bliss would dismiss all of her fellow Smackdown superstars of facing her at WrestleMania, but the Irish Lasskicker, Natalya and even Bliss’ right hand woman Mickie James all pitched their case to become the number one contender.

Smackdown general manager Daniel Bryan decided that Bliss would defend her title against all available women on the Smackdown roster, a decision that did not sit well with the champion.

Natalya would be forced to team with Becky Lynch to take on Bliss and Mickie James in Tag Team action on the 7 March episode of Smackdown, but tension boiled over when Natalya attacked Lynch allowing Bliss to score the win after tagging herself in.

However, five-time Women’s Champion Mickie was not too happy that Bliss decided to score the winning pinfall for herself, so she turned on her partner after the match nailing Bliss with the Mick Kick.

The next week on Smackdown, champion Alexa Bliss locked horns with her former ally but it was Mickie James who scored a big win ahead of WrestleMania, nailing Bliss with a Mick Kick for the second week in a row to pick up the win.

Meanwhile Becky Lynch would score some revenge over Natalya, before Carmella decided to throw her name into the mix for WrestleMania by taking out both women after the match.

Chaos would erupt two weeks before Smackdown as Natalya interrupted a match between Lynch and Carmella, before Mickie James and Alexa Bliss joined the fray.

A mass brawl erupted between all five women who looked to build some momentum heading into WrestleMania and it would be champion Alexa who stood tall as she bids to overcome the odds in Orlando.

Carmella would score a big win less than a week before WrestleMania as the Princess of Staten Island and Bliss defeated Becky Lynch and Mickie James in tag team action.

Once again, chaos would erupt after the match when Natalya attacked Becky Lynch leading to a 3-on-2 assault on James and the Lasskicker, before Naomi made a stunning return to make the save.

Naomi took out Natalya and Carmella before hitting the Rear View on champion Bliss. Just weeks after believing she would miss the showcase of immortals in her hometown, Naomi came back with a bang and confirmed he would be going for gold at WrestleMania.

Prediction

Alexa Bliss needs to overcome five fellow Smackdown superstars to retain her title at WrestleMania, but things could still get even harder for the Smackdown Women’s Champion.

It is rumoured that a few old faces could still join the fray, with the likes of former Divas Champion’s Kelly Kelly and Eve Torres due in Orlando this weekend and could take part in the Smackdown Women’s title match.

I don’t expect this encounter to be a great match as I think WWE just wanted to get as many women on the card as possible, rather that go with a proper rivalry and have a really good Women’s Championship match.

Of the names confirmed for the match, I think Alexa Bliss could manage to overcome the odds to retain her championship and I also would not rule out the Irish Lasskicker of winning the title.

I  think Naomi will be the one to come out on top in this one, reclaiming the Smackdown Women’s Championship that she was forced to vacate just a few weeks ago through injury and pick up the biggest win of her career in her hometown.

Winner: Naomi
