Battleground 2017 Predictions

The Punjabi Prison is the Battleground for Randy Orton in Pittsburgh, as the Apex Predator looks to make it third time lucky against Jinder Mahal and become a 14-time world Champion.

Jinder Mahal looks to make it a hat-trick of victories against Randy Orton, as the WWE Champion looks to continue his amazing rise with victory over the Viper in a Punjabi Prison match.

After being taken out NFL player Rob Gronkowski at WrestleMania, nobody would have predicted this turnaround for Mahal as he was drafted to Smackdown and shocked the world at Backlash when he became WWE Champion for the first time.

Mahal proved it was no fluke by defeating Orton in his hometown at Money in the Bank but the Singh Brothers once again has a massive say in the outcome, but Orton would not give up in his quest to get his hands back on the WWE Championship.

I still have not warmed to the idea of Mahal as WWE Champion and the anti-America gimmick is not helping. However, I do think Mahal will get the better of Orton in the Punjabi Prison match but I hope it is the last we will see of this boring fued.

Prediction: Jinder Mahal

United States Championship

Two of Smackdown’s finest clash for the United States Championship, as Kevin Owens looks to reclaim he title he lost in Madison Square Garden a few weeks ago when he goes one-on-one with AJ Styles.

These two men have been at each others throats for the past couple of months and when Owens beat Styles by countout in a great match at Backlash, we knew this was not going to be the end of this one.

Styles surprisingly won the title from Owens at a house show two weeks ago, but Owens crashed his celebration the following week on Smackdown as the former champion and Rusev denied AJ’s US Championship open challenge against John Cena.

Owens scored the win over Styles in Tag Team action this past week but that usually signals he won’t be winning at Battleground. I reckon this could be one of the matches of the year and I think Styles will score the win to retain the United States Championship.

Prediction: AJ Styles
